Nigerian music superstar, Davido, has finally reunited with his first daughter, Imade Adeleke, in what he has described as the “Best day of my life.”
The emotional reunion comes amid the ongoing custody battle between the award-winning singer and his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, which has played out in the public eye for months.
Back in April 2024, Davido filed a lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court, seeking full custody of Imade. In his court documents, he accused Sophia of denying him access to their daughter, a claim that sparked widespread reactions across social media.
In a strong response, Sophia filed a 102-paragraph counter-affidavit, in which she not only opposed the singer’s demands but also alleged that Davido had neglected his responsibilities as a father. She claimed his attitude changed after she stopped having a sexual relationship with him.
The bitter legal face-off quickly drew the attention of fans, celebrities, and even family members. Sophia’s uncle, veteran journalist Dele Momodu, weighed in on the situation. In a lengthy post on his Facebook page, he revealed that the court had referred the matter to the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) for an amicable settlement, indicating a glimmer of hope for reconciliation between the parents.
Now, in a surprising yet heartwarming twist, Davido took to social media on Wednesday night, sharing a touching photo of himself with Imade, their joy unmistakable.
Captioning the post, he wrote: “Best day of my life,” signifying the depth of emotion tied to the long-awaited reunion.
The image has since gone viral, sparking emotional reactions from fans and followers who have closely followed the custody saga. Many praised the singer for his persistence and expressed hopes that the family would find lasting peace for the sake of the child.
While the legal case is yet to be concluded, this moment marks a significant step toward healing and co-parenting, offering hope that, perhaps, both parents will find common ground in their shared love for Imade.
