Reality TV star and media personality Anita Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, is setting her sights far beyond the spotlight of showbiz as she opens up about her growing interest in politics. In a candid conversation during a recent interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the Big Brother Naija alumna revealed that she is seriously considering running for political office, a move she believes is necessary if real change is to be achieved, especially in her home state, Rivers State.
Born and raised in the heart of Port Harcourt, Tacha didn’t hold back her frustration with the current state of governance in Rivers. According to her, the region is rich with untapped potential from creative youth talent to economic opportunities yet suffers from neglect and underdevelopment.
“When I look at other states like Abuja and Lagos, and I see how far they’ve come, and with the potential Rivers State has, they’re not trying to exploit it. It’s just very disappointing because there are so many youths, so many talents there, so many things that if the government can see light into, a lot can happen,” she said.
Tacha stressed the importance of youth involvement in politics, noting that simply criticizing the government from the sidelines isn’t enough. She believes that true transformation can only happen when individuals step forward and take responsibility for the change they want to see.
In a moment that stirred excitement among fans and political watchers alike, she responded to a question about her political plans with a bold revelation.
“It is something I’m working on. I’ll have to make it 70% done before I can talk about it, because it does not make sense granting interviews like this, talking about the government without being involved,” she added.
Though she kept the finer details under wraps, the statement clearly signals that Tacha is laying the groundwork for a future role in public service, a shift that aligns with her growing advocacy for Nigerian youth and better governance.
In addition to her political aspirations, the ever-ambitious Tacha also shared her plans to break a world record by attempting to do makeup for 150 people in 24 hours, underscoring her commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining what is possible, whether in entertainment, beauty, or leadership.
From trending on social media to potentially making moves in the corridors of power, Tacha’s journey from BBNaija housemate to serious changemaker continues to unfold in bold, unexpected ways.
If her words are anything to go by, one thing is certain, Tacha is not just about making headlines; she’s out to make history.
