A Chicago family is mourning the loss of a mother and her unborn child after a horrific crash on the Eisenhower Expressway.
Andriuna Guffie, age 29, was 18 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident.
The tragedy occurred at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Guffie had stopped her vehicle on I-290 East to assist a cousin who had been involved in an accident.
Witnesses say she was acting out of pure kindness to help a family member in need.
As she stood on the side of the highway, a vehicle driven by Quintin King struck her.

The impact was so violent that it reportedly threw Guffie 50 feet into the air.
Despite the severity of the collision, King did not pull over to help.
He allegedly fled the scene and drove straight to his home.
Authorities later located King and found his vehicle parked in his own driveway.
Police stated the car still showed clear evidence of the deadly impact.
During questioning, King reportedly made a chilling admission to investigators.
He told authorities he knew he hit “something” while driving.
However, he claimed he decided the object was “not worth stopping for.”
He left the 29-year-old mother to die on the shoulder of the highway.
King was arrested hours after the crash but has already been released from custody.
A judge placed him on house arrest while he awaits further legal proceedings.
The Guffie family is now speaking out against what they call a failure of the justice system.
They are struggling to understand why a man who admitted to leaving a person to die is allowed to stay at home.
The family is currently planning a funeral for both Andriuna and her unborn baby.
They are calling on the Cook County State’s Attorney to seek true accountability in this case.
The community is being asked to share her story to ensure the public is watching the legal process.
Andriuna leaves behind two young children who must now grow up without their mother.
