It was a night of glamour, grace, and celebration as Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, emerged winner of the Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 crown.
The 25-year-old beauty queen outshone 21 other contestants during the highly anticipated grand finale, held on Saturday evening in Lagos State. Her victory marks a new chapter as she succeeds Chidimma Adetishina, the 2024 titleholder.
Speaking shortly after being crowned, Basil expressed her commitment to inspiring the younger generation of women, stressing the importance of confidence and cultural pride.
“I want young girls to know that they can achieve more, and still celebrate their cultural identity,” she said to thunderous applause from the audience.
With her new title, Basil will now fly Nigeria’s flag at the prestigious Miss Universe 2025 international competition, where she will compete against delegates from across the globe.
The event also celebrated other outstanding contestants. Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, emerged as first runner-up, while Fortune Kurobo, representing Bayelsa, claimed the second runner-up spot. Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, rounded off the top four as third runner-up.
The glamorous finale featured dazzling performances, breathtaking runway moments, and emotional speeches, making it one of the most memorable nights in Nigeria’s pageantry calendar.
