Manchester United have been handed a major boost ahead of their Europa League semi-final clash against Atletico Bilbao after Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt returned to training.
Amad has been out of action for three months with an ankle injury while De Ligt has missed the last six matches through injury.
Both players trained with the squad at Carrington on Wednesday as the team wrap up preparations for Bilbao clash.
Amad is unlikely to start against Bilbao but he is expected to be part of the travelling party to Spain.
De Ligt’s return is a timely boost for Ruben Amorim after losing the duo of Lisandro Martinez, and Diogo Dalot for the rest of the season.
Amorim confirmed that Diogo Dalot has been ruled out of action for the foreseeable future.
He said: Diogo Dalot is out,’ Amorim said at his press conference on Friday. ‘We don’t know how long he’s going to be out. But he’s out for these next games. We will see to the end.
“There is that possibility [he could miss the rest of the season] but I don’t know, we will check week by week.”
The Red Devils only chance of winning the silverware is in the Europa League, and they will be battling it out with Athletic Bilbao in Spain on Thursday.
