The movie “Abanisete” continues to draw massive crowds in Lagos, weeks after its August 15 release.
A visit to Silverbird Cinemas in Ikeja City Mall on Sunday revealed a packed venue, with many moviegoers, including this reviewer, eager to watch the film.
The large turnout is likely a result of the online buzz and the success of Itele D Icon’s previous movie, “Koleoso,” which garnered over 36 million views on YouTube.

The cinema hall for “Abanisete” was completely filled, a testament to the film’s popularity. The review finds the movie’s storyline to be engaging, with an unpredictable ending that particularly captivated the audience, who were heard cheering in the hall.
Beyond the expected fight and comedic scenes, the movie’s appeal was boosted by the appearance of several unexpected popular actors, actresses, and skit makers.
The film’s success is also reflected in its box office numbers; according to FilmOne Entertainment, “Abanisete” earned ₦102 million in its first three weeks, making it the No. 1 Nollywood film for three consecutive weekends.
Itele D Icon’s next project, “Koleoso part 6, season 2,” has also been announced, promising more entertainment for his fans.
