Davido delivered one of the most touching moments at AfroNation when he paused his electrifying performance to pay tribute to Wizkid’s late mother with a minute’s silence.
The crowd of thousands fell completely silent as the singer spoke about loss, empathy, and the bond formed through shared grief.
“Personally, I have lost many loved ones, people close to me, so I understand how Wizkid is feeling right now. May his mother, our mother, because she was dear to me rest in peace,” Davido said, drawing emotional reactions across the festival.
Fans were especially moved as they remembered Davido previously revealing that Wizkid called him every day after the death of his son, an act of kindness he has not forgotten.
While many praised Davido for his compassion, others argued the tribute would have been more meaningful in private. Still, the moment resonated widely, adding a heartfelt chapter to the evolving story of mutual respect between the two Afrobeats giants.
