Popular dancer and former BBNaija housemate, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, widely known as Liquorose, has opened up about how she almost made it into the Big Brother Naija house a year before her breakthrough season.
Speaking on a podcast with VJ Adams, Liquorose revealed that she came extremely close to joining the 2020 edition of the reality show. According to her, she had already dressed up, had her makeup done, and was waiting backstage to be introduced on stage during the live launch but the call never came.
“In 2020, I was backstage at the BBNaija opening show. I was dressed up and make-up done, but I was not called. That really hurt me,” she said.
Liquorose disclosed that the disappointment sent her into depression, and she almost abandoned her dream of getting into the house. It was later discovered that she and fellow contestant Jaypaul had tested positive for COVID-19, which automatically disqualified them from joining the 2020 cast.
Despite the setback, the duo returned to audition the following year. Liquorose admitted she nearly didn’t try again until a close friend encouraged her.
“That experience was messing with me. So, the following year, I didn’t even want to audition, but my friend convinced me to try. I just auditioned and forgot about it. One day, I checked my spam folder and saw I had been selected. It was crazy,” she recounted.
Liquorose eventually made it into the Big Brother Naija Season 6 house in 2021, finishing as the runner-up to Whitemoney.
