Rising Afro-fusion sensation Jainy is set to thrill fans once again with the release of her sophomore single, “Unknown,” dropping this Friday, October 24th. The track marks a bold new chapter in her sound and her first foray into the vibrant world of Amapiano.
Known for her soulful delivery and genre-blending artistry, Jainy first captivated audiences with “Madiba” in May 2025, followed by her debut EP, “The Real Jainy,” in July. Now, she’s ready to show another side of her artistry, one that’s both dance-driven and deeply meaningful.
Speaking about her inspiration for exploring the Amapiano sound, Jainy said she’s always been drawn to its irresistible energy.
“I’ve always loved Amapiano and the feeling it gives. No matter the theme, it carries that party vibe that makes people move and forget their worries,” she explained. “I’m still exploring different sounds, but this one felt right. It turned out really good.”
While “Unknown” carries the pulse of the dancefloor, Jainy revealed that the song’s core message runs deeper.
“It’s a motivational and inspiring song that puts you in a groovy mood,” she shared. “Nobody has life all figured out, but as the journey goes on, may our paths be guided.”
Describing the mood of the track, she added:
“It’s groovy yet motivational. You’ll dance to it, relate to it, and at the same time, hold on to the words.”
Jainy’s ability to fuse genres shines through again on this record. Having made her mark with Afrobeats and R&B influences on previous releases, she found creative ways to blend her roots into this new sound.
“Working on an Amapiano record felt different, but in a good way,” she said. “I used my Afrobeats knowledge to merge both genres. There are patterns of each in there. Let’s be honest — Amapiano belongs to its people, but I’m glad I pulled it off.”
For Jainy, “Unknown” represents growth both as an artist and as a person.
“It’s me being extra intentional with my lyrics, while still putting a groove in the moment,” she noted. “It’s the experience I want people to share with me, a journey that unfolds as it’s meant to, a guided path.”
From “Madiba” to her debut EP “The Real Jainy” and now “Unknown,” Jainy says her biggest evolution has been in vocal control and clarity of message.
“I’m more deliberate about what I want to say with my music,” she said. “And my work ethic has become watertight because you never know when preparation will meet opportunity.”
As for the meaning behind the title, Jainy calls it a reflection of faith and self-discovery.
“Nobody knows what the future holds, it’s an unknown destination until you arrive,” she said. “But I believe my journey, like everyone’s, is being guided by God.”
What does she hope listeners feel when they hear the song for the first time?
“I want them to move, feel the vibe first, then listen closely to the lyrics. There’s a message in there for everyone.”
And for her growing fanbase across Nigeria and Ghana, Jainy’s goal is simple but powerful:
“I want them to take away good vibes, moral lessons, and motivation. Something they can dance to, relate with, and feel inspired by.”
With “Unknown,” Jainy continues to prove that she’s not just chasing trends, she’s defining her lane. A blend of rhythm, message, and magic, the new single promises to be a sonic experience that cements her as one of the most exciting young voices to watch in the Afro music scene.
