Popular Nigerian skitmaker and musician Lawal Nasiru, better known as Nasboi, has opened up about his unique religious identity, revealing that he considers himself both a Muslim and a Christian.
The comedian made the revelation in a recent post on his official X page, explaining that his diverse background shaped his open-minded approach to faith and culture.
Nasboi disclosed that he was born to a Yoruba Muslim father and a Christian mother from Warri, which made him appreciate both religions from childhood.
“My papa Yoruba, my mama Warri. My papa Muslim, my mama Christian. I was born and raised in Port Harcourt. I studied at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom. This is why I can never relate to tribalism or all the religious agendas,” he wrote.
When a curious fan asked about his faith, Nasboi humorously described himself as “Christmus,” a blend of Christian and Muslim symbolizing his belief in unity and mutual respect between both religions.
“I am Christmus [both Christian and Muslim],” he added.
His statement has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans praising his inclusivity and others questioning his stance, accusing him of being “confused.”
However, many supporters applauded the entertainer for promoting tolerance and understanding in a society often divided along religious and tribal lines.
Nasboi, known for his comic skits and hit song Umbrella, continues to use his platform to spread messages of peace, coexistence, and love, values he says are rooted in both of his faith backgrounds.
