Nollywood sweetheart Adesua Etomi-Wellington has opened up about a terrifying near-death experience that left her shaken and eternally grateful for life.
The award-winning actress revealed that she underwent an emergency surgery in the United Kingdom after a sudden health crisis that nearly claimed her life.
In a deeply emotional post shared on her Instagram page, Adesua recounted how what began as a normal trip with her husband, Banky W, and their two sons turned into a harrowing episode she would never forget.
“I could have lost my life in June of this year,” she wrote. “The surgery was ironically the least dramatic part of what I went through.”
The actress described the incident as “horrific,” revealing that it occurred while she was in the UK for two speaking engagements. She explained that the ordeal unfolded so suddenly that any small change in the sequence of events that day could have altered the outcome completely.
“I can trace God’s hands all over the situation,” she said, expressing profound gratitude for divine intervention. “If anything had gone differently, I wouldn’t be here. God is truly real.”
Known for her calm grace and inspiring faith, Adesua said the life-threatening encounter has deepened her spirituality and completely reshaped her outlook on life.
“The experience has made me more aware of how fragile life is,” she reflected. “I will never take another day for granted.”
In a heartfelt message to her fans and followers, the Wedding Party star urged everyone to live with kindness, patience, and gratitude.
“Let’s be softer, kinder, gentler, forgiving, patient, loving, and peaceful,” she advised. “Every day is a gift. Treasure it.”
Adesua also hinted that this was not the first major trial she has faced in recent years. She has previously spoken openly about her pregnancy struggles and her husband’s battle with cancer, both of which tested but ultimately strengthened their faith and bond.
Through it all, Adesua says she’s come to understand the power of grace and the importance of living with purpose. “I’m here because God wants me here,” she wrote. “And for that, I’ll forever be grateful.”
