Reality TV star and entrepreneur, Mercy Eke, has reflected on her historic victory at the fourth edition of Big Brother Naija (Pepper Dem), declaring that her triumph was a win for all young women striving to break boundaries.
In a recent interview with BellaNaija, the Imo State-born media personality said her success on the show was not just personal but symbolic, a statement of empowerment for young women who have been made to believe they cannot achieve greatness.
“I came into the show prepared. I was ready,” Mercy stated confidently. “And when I won, I did it for all the young women who have been told that they can’t. I did it for all of us.”
Mercy made history in 2019 as the first-ever female winner of the Big Brother Naija reality show, a milestone that reshaped the narrative for women in competitive entertainment spaces.
Her groundbreaking win has since inspired a new generation of female contestants, with Phyna emerging as winner in 2022 and Ilebaye clinching the title in 2023, further proving that women can excel in the male-dominated reality TV landscape.
Since her victory, Mercy Eke has grown into one of Nigeria’s most influential reality stars, expanding her brand into fashion, acting, and business, while continuously serving as a role model for ambitious young women across Africa.
