Nigerian singer Obumneme Ali, popularly known as Smash and one half of the music duo Bracket, has described the long-standing feud between P-Square brothers Peter and Paul Okoye as “spiritual.”
Smash made the revelation during a recent episode of the AFRIMMA Podcast where he appeared alongside his bandmate, Vast. According to him, the rift between the twin brothers goes beyond normal disagreements.
“I’m closer to Paul than Peter but I always go to Peter’s house and he listens to me whenever I speak to him. But unfortunately, if you ask me as an in-house, I will say that problem is spiritual,” he said.
The singer added that Paul himself acknowledged the possibility of a spiritual angle to their feud.
“The last time I met Paul I told him his problem with his brother Peter wasn’t normal, that it’s spiritual, and he agreed,” Smash revealed.
He went on to recall how inseparable the duo once were, highlighting the passion they shared for the P-Square brand.
“If you know how close these guys were and how they worked, you will feel so bad looking at what is going on today. Jude was part of P-Square. Paul and Peter, they loved that brand with so much passion,” he said.
P-Square, made up of Peter and Paul Okoye, rose to fame in the early 2000s with a string of hit songs and electrifying performances. However, their split in 2017 shocked fans across the world.
Although the brothers reunited in 2021, series of lingering tensions have continued to trail their relationship.
Smash’s revelation has now added a new twist to the conversation, sparking fresh reactions among fans of the legendary Nigerian music duo.
