Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Umeh, has opened up about the acting boundaries of her colleague, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, claiming the actress does not accept kissing or romantic roles in movies.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Where Is The Lie podcast, Umeh attributed Chioma’s choice to her strict Catholic upbringing.
“Chioma Chukwuka was brought up in a very Catholic home. She doesn’t accept kissing or romantic roles in movies. I’m saying this out of experience. She was a legionary. She has been a good girl,” Umeh stated.
Chioma Chukwuka, widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most disciplined and respected actresses, has enjoyed a career spanning over two decades, often praised for the decent and conservative characters she portrays on screen.
However, contrary to Umeh’s claims, the actress has featured in several productions that included romantic roles. Most recently, in the film Seven Doors, she shared an on-screen kiss with fellow actor Femi Adebayo, sparking conversations among fans about how far she is willing to go in interpreting her roles.
The revelation has reignited debates about Nollywood stars setting personal boundaries in the industry, with many praising Chioma for maintaining her values while others highlight the occasional flexibility in her role choices.
