Lagos State Police have arrested five suspects for snatching a taxi driver’s black Toyota Corolla in Lekki and selling it for ₦500,000.
The incident happened on August 1, 2025, when three men, posing as passengers, boarded the vehicle along Platinum Way, Jakande, Lekki. During the ride, one suspect threatened the driver with a locally made pistol and forced him out before fleeing with the car.
Detectives from Ilasan Division tracked down the suspects, identified as Favour Sunday, 25; Ikot Moses, 28; Dickson Ighobue Harrison, 35; Joshua Adedamola, 27; and Daniel Jonathan, 26.
The investigation also led to the arrest of Wasiu Arinola, 40, in Ibadan, who bought the stolen car, dismantled it, and sold its parts.
Police are working to recover the pistol used in the robbery and trace other vehicles sold by the syndicate. All suspects will face prosecution once investigations are complete.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh reassured Lagos residents of the Command’s commitment to their safety and urged the public to share useful information for swift police action.
