The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce launched an early morning raid on Wednesday. The operation, which began around 1:30 a.m., targeted hotspots in Agidigbi and Ikeja GRA to eliminate undesirable elements and restore peace to the streets.
The taskforce swept through several key locations, including Alausa CBD, NERDC Road, Alhaja Ashabi Cole Street, and the frontage of the famous African Shrine in Agidigbi.
They also covered Adekunle Fajuyi Way, Shobo Arobiodu, Isaac John Street, Oba Akinjobi Road in Ikeja GRA, and nearby adjoining streets where suspicious activities had been reported.
During the raid, officers arrested a total of 32 suspects, 25 men and 7 women, who were found in possession of hard drugs. These included suspected Indian hemp, codeine, and other narcotic substances. The arrests came as part of the agency’s ongoing cleanup enforcement to make Lagos safer for residents and visitors.
Authorities reported that the operation successfully restored sanity to all the affected areas. No injuries occurred during the exercise, and the taskforce emphasized their commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.
All arrested suspects will soon face charges in court, according to the agency. This raid highlights the Lagos State government’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug-related crimes and environmental nuisances.
The Environmental Taskforce urged the public to report any suspicious activities to help keep Lagos clean and secure.
