The ongoing feud between controversial street-hop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, and outspoken social commentator Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), has taken a wild turn and it’s now getting physical.
In a fresh twist to their heated back-and-forth, Portable has publicly challenged VeryDarkMan to a no-holds-barred street fight, completely ruling out any possibility of a formal boxing match.
The drama between the duo began after Portable blasted VDM for frequently criticising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and allegedly using the late singer Mohbad’s death to chase clout online. VDM fired back with a diss track titled ‘Ole’, taking shots at Portable’s controversial past including allegations of phone and tricycle theft, and his run-ins with the police.
Refusing to stay silent, Portable responded with his own diss track, and what began as a verbal feud quickly snowballed into an all-out war of words on social media.
In a recent video posted online, the Zazu crooner declared that he doesn’t want a controlled, rule-bound fight. Instead, he wants to take it back to his roots the street.
“People have been tagging me and asking for a boxing match between me and VeryDarkMan. Who will box with that fool? If he wants to fight with me, let him come to the street. I’m a street fighter. I don’t want boxing match because we will be mandated to wear protective gears. But it’s in the streets, you can even fight with planks. I want us to settle this with a street fight not boxing, let’s see who will win,” he said in the video.
So far, VeryDarkMan has not responded to the challenge. Fans and followers are now waiting to see if the activist will take the bait or maintain his stance through words and diss tracks.
One thing’s for sure, with both personalities known for controversy and confrontation, this feud is far from over. Whether it ends on the mic or in the streets remains to be seen.
