Emerging Afro-R&B singer Jainy has taken a bold step into the Nigerian music scene with the release of her debut EP, The Real Jainy; a five-track sonic showcase of her raw talent, range, and rising star power. The project was unveiled in style at an intimate listening party held at a cozy lounge in Victoria Island, Lagos, attended by industry tastemakers, music executives, brand leads, and fans who gathered to witness a defining moment in the singer’s career.
Jainy’s journey into the limelight has been swift yet intentional. Just two months ago, she made her official debut with the single Madiba, which gained impressive traction, racking up over 100,000 streams on Spotify and crossing 200,000 streams across platforms. The single’s success quickly changed the game.
“I didn’t plan to release an EP this early,” Jainy shared. “As a new artist, the idea was to keep dropping singles, but after I got signed to Tripoint and started recording, we realized the songs were really good. We had something worth sharing in a bigger way.”
The Real Jainy is more than a debut, it’s a declaration. With tracks titled Ojoro, Shege, Follow, Yours, and Radar, the project touches on love, betrayal, confidence, and the audacity of youth, all while flaunting Jainy’s genre-bending capabilities. From moody R&B inflections to feel-good Afrobeats energy, the EP highlights her ability to move seamlessly between sounds and emotions.
Describing the body of work, Jainy said, “The EP is a rollercoaster of emotions. You’ll hear love, heartbreak, confidence, audacity, and just pure vibes.”
One standout track is Shege, which she says speaks from a place of repeated hurt, though not necessarily her own. “It’s more of a collective experience. I’ve had my share of heartbreak, but it’s never been that deep. This one’s more about what people go through,” she explained.
Jainy is unapologetically youthful and embraces it fully in her sound. “I don’t want to sound overly mature or beyond my age. I want people to know me for who I am; young, evolving, and real,” she said.
Her musical influences span continents and genres, reflecting a wide palette. “I grew up listening to confident women, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande. For the guys, I vibed to Sean Paul and others like him,” she said. “They helped shape how I approach music.”
