Diddy Prosecutors Drop Multiple Allegations Against Music Mogul Just Days Before Trial Ends

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing federal sex trafficking trial has taken a dramatic turn, as prosecutors have now dropped several key allegations against the music mogul just days before the case is expected to conclude. The high-profile trial, which has unfolded over six intense weeks, has captured widespread attention for its celebrity witnesses, explosive testimony, and now, a surprising shift in the prosecution’s strategy.

According to a letter filed in court on Tuesday, June 24, and obtained by Fox News, federal prosecutors informed the judge that they would no longer pursue some of the more serious accusations originally included in their case. The filing reads:

“The theories of attempted kidnapping, attempted arson and aiding and abetting sex trafficking will not be pursued.”

The government’s letter to Judge Arun Subramanian also noted that the move was made in part to simplify jury instructions as the trial nears its conclusion.

“The Government understands the Court’s desire for streamlined instructions. With that in mind, the Government has suggested ways to streamline those instructions… Specifically, the Government has removed instructions from the charge relating to (i) attempted kidnapping under both California and New York law, (ii) attempted arson under California law, and (iii) aiding and abetting sex trafficking. The Government is no longer planning to proceed on these theories of liability so instructions are no longer necessary.”

The surprise announcement came just a day after Diddy’s defense team rested their case. According to reports from the BBC, the defense’s presentation lasted only about 20 minutes and focused on showing that Diddy’s former partners were willing participants in what have been described as “freak-offs.” Rather than mounting a lengthy rebuttal, the team relied on a brief presentation of text messages and did not call any witnesses. Diddy himself declined to testify.

Throughout the trial, prosecutors called dozens of witnesses, including singer Cassie Ventura and her mother, as well as rapper Kid Cudi, former employees of Combs, and other associates. The testimonies painted a disturbing picture of alleged coercion, abuse, and manipulation within Combs’ inner circle.

Despite the sensational nature of the case and mounting public scrutiny, Diddy appeared composed in court. In a rare direct exchange with Judge Subramanian, he remarked:

“I’m doing great, your honor. I’ve been wanting to tell you thank you, you’re doing an excellent job.”

Combs faces serious charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He was arrested on September 16, 2024, and has consistently maintained his innocence.

If convicted, the 54-year-old music mogul could face 15 years to life in prison.

With the prosecution narrowing its case and the defense opting for a minimal strategy, the trial is expected to move swiftly toward a verdict in the coming days. Public reaction remains divided, with many awaiting the court’s final ruling in what has become one of the most talked-about celebrity trials of the decade.
