“Don’t Let Wokeness Derail You”: Woli Arole Tackles Trend of Healthy Women Choosing Surrogacy

Popular Nigerian comedian and on-air personality, Woli Arole, has stirred reactions on social media following his take on the growing trend of medically fit women opting for surrogacy and other assisted reproductive options, not out of necessity, but by choice.

In a post shared via his official Instagram account, Arole expressed concern over what he described as a deviation from God’s natural design for motherhood. He argued that while science has made incredible strides in offering alternatives like IVF and surrogacy for women who are unable to conceive or carry pregnancies due to medical conditions, these options should not be normalized for convenience or lifestyle preferences.

“Listen carefully, it is a blessing for a woman to carry her baby in her womb, that is how God wants it,” he wrote. “Do not let wokeness derail you. Unless for medical reasons she can adopt options like surrogacy, IVF, and all.”

The comedian didn’t stop there. He questioned the modern-day mantra of “my body, my decision” when it comes to pregnancy choices, asserting that the body is sacred and should be treated as such.

“You cannot say my body my decision, I do not feel like carrying a child I want surrogacy. Nooooooo, your body is God’s temple,” Arole added.

His statement has since sparked a debate online, with many weighing in on the intersection of personal freedom, faith, and technological advancements in reproductive health. While some agree with his conservative stance, others believe women should have autonomy over how they choose to experience motherhood, provided it harms no one.

Woli Arole, known for blending humor with social commentary, continues to use his platform to share his values, regardless of the controversy they may stir.
