Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has issued a scathing response to Tanzanian media personality Mage Kimambi, after he publicly warned her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, and her partner, singer Juma Jux, to keep a low profile on social media amidst Tanzania’s political unrest.

The drama began after Mage Kimambi took to Instagram to caution the couple, urging them to stay under the radar for at least five months as tensions escalate in his home country. His post, which seemed to indirectly criticize the couple’s online presence, didn’t sit well with Iyabo Ojo who wasted no time in defending her daughter and setting the record straight.

Reacting via a fiery Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo expressed her deep displeasure, calling out Kimambi for what she described as disrespectful and intimidating behavior. She condemned his comments, particularly the claim that Priscilla and Juma Jux’s public posts were “stupīd,” and made it clear that such attacks would not be tolerated.

“I’m appalled by your audacity! Referring to my daughter and her husband in such a manner, calling their content stupīd, and trying to drum fear and intimidation is unacceptable. As a parent, I’ve taught her to be confident and authentic,” Iyabo wrote.

She also addressed swirling rumors surrounding the couple’s extravagant wedding celebrations, clarifying that the financial responsibility was shouldered by her family, not external or political entities.

“Regarding the wedding rumours, it’s not your government that gave us money; it’s a cultural tradition in my family,” she added.

Known for being outspoken and fiercely protective of her children, the actress didn’t hold back, emphasizing her values as an activist and parent. She urged Mage Kimambi to steer clear of her daughter and allow her the freedom to live her life on her own terms.

“I’m an activist, and as one, I stand by my principles and fight for what I believe in, without insulting anyone or targeting anyone. True leadership requires presence and courage,” she wrote.

Iyabo Ojo concluded her statement with a firm warning:

“Keep my daughter out of your affairs. She’ll post what she likes, when, and how she likes. She doesn’t need you to love her. She is very loved and well-loved. We protect our own. Never forget that.”

The exchange has since gone viral, sparking heated debates online as fans rally behind Iyabo Ojo for defending her daughter, while others question the need for such public exchanges during politically sensitive times. Regardless, one thing is clear, when it comes to her children, Iyabo Ojo does not play.
