Ajibade Leads 22 Super Falcons Players To Face Cameroon

Super Falcons Coach Justine Madugu has invited captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and 21 others for the double-header friendly clash against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

There are also defenders Osinachi Ohale, Oluwatosin Demehin and Shukurat Oladipo, midfielders Deborah Abiodun and Jennifer Echegini, and forwards Ifeoma Onumonu and Francisca Ordega.

However, Asisat Oshoala is missing from the list following her inability to nail a regular starting berth at BAY FC.

The former Barcelona forward has only started two out of seven league matches for the club, while still waiting for her first goal and assist of the season.

The Falcons, and the Lionesses will face off at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo on Saturday, 31st May, before a second clash at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Tuesday, 3rd June.

The Super Falcons will use the matches as part of their preparations for the 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Morocco, 5th – 26th July.

All invited 23 players have been directed to arrive at the Am2pm Hotel in Ijebu-Ode on Monday, 26th May.

Nigeria will take on Tunisia, Algeria and Botswana in group B of the 13th Women AFCON in Morocco.

Meanwhile, Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has backed the team to reclaim the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

She admitted that the team is in a tricky group but she is backing her teammates to go all the way.

Nnadozie said: “People might think it’s a manageable group, but the reality is very different. Women’s football has made huge strides in recent years. Every team is improving, working hard, and investing in development. We saw it in the last AFCON, where many of the favourites were shaken. No one can be underestimated anymore.

“This group is tricky, and we have to treat it with the seriousness it deserves. Qualification won’t be handed to us we’ll need to earn it through hard work and discipline,”

The 15th edition of the biennial women’s championship will take place in Morocco between July 5 and 26.
