Tension erupted in Ikire, a town in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, on Sunday afternoon after the convoy of legendary Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, came under a shocking and violent attack.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack was carried out by suspected hoodlums who ambushed the convoy, hurling stones and firing shots at the vehicles, including a black Hummer Jeep and a white Hilux truck believed to be part of the entourage.
The vehicles reportedly sustained visible damage during the assault, sparking panic and confusion in the community. While the full extent of injuries remains uncertain, there are yet no confirmed reports of casualties or whether any members of Pasuma’s team were harmed in the ambush.
A viral video circulating on social media has since added fuel to the fire, showing a chaotic scene with agitated voices and panic-stricken individuals. In the clip, one distressed voice in Pidgin English could be heard shouting:
“Kasala don burst for Ikire. They don attack us. They carry gun shoot us but God dey.”
The shocking incident temporarily disrupted business activities and daily life in Ikire, leaving many residents shaken. Shopkeepers closed up early, and passers-by fled the scene amid fears of further violence.
Pasuma, who was reportedly in Osun State for a scheduled performance, has yet to officially comment on the situation. Repeated efforts by journalists to contact him or his management team for a statement have so far been unsuccessful.
As of press time, the Osun State Police Command has not released any official information regarding the incident including whether any arrests have been made or an investigation launched.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but the event has reignited conversations around security for entertainers, especially when performing in volatile regions.
