Flying Eagles coach Aliyu Zubairu has urged his players to go all out for three points when they take on Kenya in the last group match at the U-20 Nations Cup on Wednesday.

Nigeria began the tournament with a 1-0 victory over Tunisia but they failed to find the breakthrough in their second match against Morocco which ended 0-0.

Kenya are yet to record any points in the group but Zubairu has revealed that the players are going all out for a win.

He said:  “We’ll approach the game against Kenya with a positive mind set. They are a strong team, and we’ll treat them with respect even though they haven’t picked up a point yet. We’ll stay fully focused to ensure we get the three points. We have seen their game against Morocco and see what they can offer.”

The Flying Eagles are second in Group B with four points from two games behind Morocco who are also on four points but are ahead because of superior goals difference.

Similarly, Flying Eagles coach, Daniel Bameyi hailed his teammates for their performance against Morocco while urging them to go for the maximum points against Kenya.

He said: “It was a good one. Respect to the opponent and my teammates. It was an intense game because we both knew what was at stake.

“Kudos to our coaches. They had the opportunity to analyze our opponents, and we executed some of those tactical plans on the pitch. It worked out well, and we thank God for that.”

A win against Kenya will confirm Nigeria’s place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

All four semi-finalists at the tournament will qualify to fly Africa’s flag at this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Chile.

Nigeria will take on Kenya at the June 30 Stadium on Wednesday by 4pm.
