Harry Kane has slammed the decision to hand him a yellow card against Mainz which is set to rule him out of the title-winning game against RB Leipzig.
Kane was booked in the first half of Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Mainz on Saturday which moved them closer to winning the Bundesliga title.
It was Kane’s fifth yellow card of the season which will rule him out of the clash against Leipzig, where Bayern Munich need a win to lift the Bundesliga title.
The former Tottenham forward branded the decision to book him as crazy.
Kane said: “It’s a crazy, crazy decision. It’s never ever a yellow card. Unfortunately, sometimes people come to the Allianz and try and make a name for themselves,” Kane said, referring to referee Bastian Dankert.
The England captain was critical of the Bundesliga’s rule which counts yellow cards across an entire season.
He said: “They should have a reset like the Premier League, where halfway through the season it resets. I’m missing a big game because I got a yellow card in the first game of the season.
“It hurts, it stings. There are big games ahead and I don’t want to miss them.”
Asked if he was frustrated that the card took away his chance of celebrating a first team trophy on the pitch, Kane said “well it doesn’t mean I don’t win a title, does it?”
“But I’ll be there, supporting the boys as always. I’ll be celebrating as much as anyone else.”
Kane is on course to win his first career trophy after suffering six final defeats for club, and country.
