Jude Okoye Regains Freedom After Two Months in EFCC Custody as P-Square Family Drama Unfolds

Jude Okoye, former manager of the now-defunct music duo, P-Square, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending over two months in detention. His release comes amid ongoing legal battles and an intensifying family rift among the Okoye brothers.

Jude Okoye, who managed P-Square during their reign as Africa’s biggest music duo, was reportedly arraigned by the EFCC alongside his company, Northside Music Limited, on a seven-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering and financial misappropriation.

The news of his release was announced by Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, on his Instagram story on Wednesday. In a series of emotional videos showing a jubilant homecoming celebration, Paul welcomed his elder brother back home.

“Jude is finally out after 2 months +. All their efforts to frustrate his bail has finally collapsed. Welcome home, brother. Happy birthday and welcome back blood,” Paul wrote.

However, the family tension that has long plagued the Okoye brothers appears to be deepening. Paul P-Square has openly accused his twin brother and former bandmate, Peter Okoye (Mr P), of being behind Jude’s legal woes.

The tension reached a boiling point last week when Peter testified against Jude in a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos. In his testimony, Peter alleged that Jude secretly created a new company under his wife’s name and used it to divert music royalties that were meant for the P-Square brand.

The court has since adjourned the case to June 4 for cross-examination, leaving fans and observers glued to the unfolding family and legal drama.

What once appeared to be a typical business fallout is now revealing a complex mix of legal, familial, and emotional entanglements that could reshape the legacy of one of Africa’s most iconic music acts.
