Peter Okoye, one half of the defunct iconic music duo Psquare, sparked controversy and raw emotions during his Easter Sunday performance at the AY Live comedy show held at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites.

In an explosive moment on stage, the singer didn’t hold back, venting his frustration over what he described as the toxic comparison culture among fans that led to the group’s infamous breakup.

“You fans are the reason Psquare no dey together,” Peter said, mid-performance. “Two brothers are doing their own thing, una say one better pass one. E come dey enter one head, e begin misbehave. I must prove myself tonight, if una like make una go home I no send una papa.”

The crowd was left stunned as Peter went further, reaffirming his prowess as a well-rounded musician. Backed by a live band, he delivered a soulful rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song,” playing the piano and guitar while showing off his signature dance moves. “Shebi I don sing, shebi I don dance, shebi I don play piano, I don play guitar. My people, e easy?” he asked the audience, drawing loud cheers and applause.

The singer also took a swipe at the narrative that has often undermined his musical credibility. “Na me get music certificate, I read music but they lied. We know people wey lie, make we leave am there,” he said cryptically, perhaps addressing long-standing speculations surrounding his split with twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy).

Peter’s outburst reignites conversations around the Psquare fallout, a topic that has lingered since the duo’s split in 2017. While both brothers have since pursued solo careers, fans continue to draw comparisons, something Peter now openly resents.

With this fiery performance and unfiltered honesty, it’s clear Peter Okoye is not just reclaiming his narrative, he’s daring the world to see him for the full package he believes he is.
