Chelsea fans have taken to social media to call for the sacking of Enzo Maresca following the embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Lega Warsaw at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues produced a poor performance at home but they advanced to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League after winning the first leg 3-0 in Poland.
Maresca’s team have now failed to win their last two matches at home against Ipswich Town, and Lega Warsaw, a run which has seen the Italian manager lose the support of the club’s supporters.
After the final whistle, The fans booed off the players, and on social media their voices were loud, and in calling for the sacking of the former Leicester City coach.
CF Chris called for Maresca to leave the club immediately following the 2-1 defeat to Lega Warsaw.
He wrote on X: “Enzo Maresca has to leave Chelsea immediately and when he does, all attention has to go to Stewart, Winstanley and Egbhali who forced him on us.”
Futbol Chelsea slammed Maresca for the style of play, and demanded for his sacking.
He wrote on X: “I’m sorry I am officially Maresca OUT!! Even if we go through it doesn’t mean anything. The players look absolutely done and this is some of the worst football we have ever played recently.”
Chelsea reporter Simon Phillips believes the players have stopped playing for Maresca, and no going back for him in the summer.
He wrote on X: “There is no doubt in my mind that a chunk of these players have downed tools under Maresca. I hate to see regular hiring and firing but I can’t see a scenario where he can stay past the summer now. The squad building is hideous we all know that, but the coach is also a problem.”
Dan Santus was critical of the players’ performance in the encounter.
He said: “Very shameful display. For goodness sake, we are a big club in the world…and we must play like one. The players show no desire , passion, and zeal. In just a couple of months, we’ll be playing the FiFA Club World Cup ,and we can’t play like this.”
Rob described the performance as embarrassing from everyone involved.
He wrote on X: “Embarrassing from everyone involved tonight. This was the night Enzo Maresca lost a lot of people, if he hadn’t lost them already.”
Darko described Maresca as the worst manager the club has had in 25 years.
He wrote on X: Maresca is the worst manager I’ve seen at the club in the last 25 years, he’s an utter disgrace. People think I’m negative by choice I just want the best for our club, I don’t understand how any Chelsea fan can continue to defend this rubbish.”
Y Talks Football said Chelsea’s season ended after the game, while claiming Maresca is bereft of ideas.
He wrote on X: “Season ended tonight. Finito. Many players are poor and don’t give a crap. Most of them have downed tools on Maresca. Maresca has no idea what he’s doing now. The recruitment is shambolic with £1.5bn out the window. Winstanley and Stewart still have jobs and BlueCo are enabling it all. Maresca needs to go but not before Winstanley and Stewart. BlueCo won’t get rid of their precious yes men though will they.”
Maresca will be hoping for an immediate response from the team when they take on Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.
