“E-Money Used to be My Manager, I Made Money Before Him” – Kcee Opens up on Role Reversal

Nigerian music star Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has revealed the unexpected shift in roles between him and his younger brother, billionaire businessman Emeka Okonkwo, better known as E-Money. In a recent chat on the Tea With Tay podcast, Kcee shared that he was already financially successful before his brother, who once managed his music career.

“E-Money used to be my manager. When I blew up as KC-Presh, he was the one managing us,” Kcee said. “I made money before him. I was among those who sponsored his wedding. Then he started making money, making more money.”

E-Money and Kcee

Kcee, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and chart-topping hits, reflected on how different career paths shaped their current financial standings. “The number of years I’ve put into music, if I had put it into business, I would be ten times richer than I am. E-Money has businesses that consistently bring in returns. But we as artists, we live flashy lives. Sometimes, a hit comes, sometimes, a hit doesn’t come.”

He also revealed the deep emotional bond he shares with his brother, recalling that he held E-Money’s hand and cried tears of joy when he was born. “I stayed at the hospital with baby E-Money for three days. Growing up, it was always me and him.”

E-Money

Kcee went on to say he coined the name E-Money for his brother long before the wealth came. “I was K-Money, we had P-Money (Presh), and then there was E-Money. Back then, he wasn’t wealthy, we called the money into existence. When the money finally came, the name stuck.”

Despite concerns from some naysayers that promoting his brother’s name in his songs could overshadow his own fame, Kcee made it clear he has no room for envy. “People told me to stop shouting ‘E-Money’ in my songs, but I couldn’t. I’m proud of him. There’s no jealousy here.”

The singer’s heartfelt revelations highlight not just the power of belief and brotherhood, but how success can shift hands and still strengthen family ties.
