Nigerian music sensation Shallipopi, born Crown Uzama, has parted ways with Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital amid allegations of financial exploitation and mismanagement.

The move, confirmed through an emotional statement on Wednesday, marks the end of his relationship with the record label owned by Damilola Akinwunmi, popularly known as Dapper and boyfriend of chef Hilda Baci.

The split had been brewing since November, as Shallipopi removed all traces of Dapper Music from his social media and unfollowed its CEO. On the heels of this decision, he announced his own label, Plutomania Records, featuring emerging talents Zerry DL and Tega Boi.

In his statement, Shallipopi accused Dapper Music of coercing him into a damaging deal with Dvpper Digital, alleging that both companies prioritized profits over his artistic growth. “Funds earned under my name were mismanaged, leaving me in significant debt,” he claimed.

Shallipopi expressed frustration over being denied access to his financial records, labeling the situation “devastating and unacceptable.” The artist also revealed attempts to lock him into a perpetual 30% earnings cut, even after termination of their contract.

“This isn’t just about me—it’s about every artist who has been exploited,” Shallipopi wrote. “This is a stand for fairness, respect, and integrity in the industry.”

Despite the challenges, Shallipopi reassured fans that his creative journey remains unstoppable. Known for his viral hit Elon Musk and unique Afrobeat-street-hop fusion, the artist is determined to use this experience as fuel for greater success with his Plutomania Gang.

The music industry may have just witnessed the rise of a stronger, independent Shallipopi. Fans are watching closely to see what comes next.
