Fema Director Beaten by Local Resident North Carolina? Fact Check
Reports circulating on social media claiming that local residents in North Carolina beat a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) director are completely false.
There is no official record of the alleged incident, and Bestlagos has not been able to independently verify the authenticity of the video that has sparked these rumors.
Despite the fake reports, FEMA has categorically denied any such event.
As of an October 4 post on the agency’s official X account, FEMA confirmed that it has already provided $45 million in funds to support survivors of Hurricane Helene, which has tragically claimed over 200 lives.
The agency added that FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell is personally overseeing relief operations in North Carolina, one of the hardest-hit states.
Criswell has been working closely with local leaders to coordinate disaster response efforts. FEMA has deployed more than 5,600 federal personnel and delivered 11.5 million meals, 150 generators, and 400,000 tarps to affected communities.
“Hurricane Helene has caused unprecedented devastation across Western North Carolina, and we are leading an unprecedented response to surge food, water, and needed supplies into these communities,” said North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.
He emphasized that the recovery process will be lengthy and challenging, requiring the full mobilization of state, local, and federal resources.
Cooper has also activated over 400 members of the North Carolina National Guard to assist with disaster response, according to the official website of the Governor’s office.
