An old Dailymail article has stirred public reactions after it covered the case of Adil Rashid, an 18-year-old “who was with” a 13-year-old girl he met on Facebook and avoided a prison sentence.

Rashid claimed he was unaware that his actions were illegal due to a lack of knowledge about British law from his education.

Judge Michael Stokes issued Rashid a suspended sentence, noting, “Although chronologically 18, it is quite clear from the reports that you are very naive and immature when it comes to “s–ual” matters”

The case, heard at Nottingham Crown Court, typically warrants a prison sentence of four to seven years. However, the judge decided that sending Rashid to jail might be more harmful than beneficial, given his passive and unassertive nature.

Public Reactions

Though this event occurred in 2013, a screenshot of the article is now circulating on social media, generating a lot of reactions.

“When is not knowing the law an acceptable defense? The legal code is being rewritten to allow immigrants to escape punishment for committing not only crimes but even the most heinous offenses.” An X user said.

Another said: “Stop letting illegals in. Its clear they have no respect for other countries.Another said: “

“This is the absurd world we’re living in, where the system protects radical predators and punishes free speech. This insanity needs to end before there’s nothing left to save.” Another added.

Elon Musk also commented on the article, questioning, “What is going on in the UK?”
