Shopping was interrupted at the Louis Joliet Mall on Saturday evening after a massive group of teenagers caused a violent disturbance, leading to multiple arrests.
Joliet Police responded to the mall at 3340 Mall Loop Drive around 5:51 p.m. on December 27, 2025.
Callers reported a group of approximately 50 juveniles causing chaos inside the building.
When officers arrived, they discovered several fights breaking out among the teenagers.
As police moved in to stop the violence, dozens of juveniles fled the mall and the surrounding parking lots.
Police managed to take two male juveniles into custody.
Both were charged with disorderly conduct and were later released to their parents.
Despite the large scale of the disturbance, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported among shoppers, employees, or the individuals involved.
Investigators are still working to determine what sparked the initial conflict.
A Warning to Parents
Following the incident, the Joliet Police Department issued a statement urging parents to keep a closer eye on their children’s whereabouts.
“The Joliet Police Department encourages parents and guardians to remain engaged and aware of their children’s activities, particularly in large public spaces,” the department stated. “Open communication and guidance can help reduce the likelihood of conflicts.”
