Safety Concerns in Brainerd
The 9400 block of South Ashland Avenue is a busy commercial corridor in the Brainerd community.
Residents have expressed growing concerns over daytime violence in high-traffic areas.
This incident follows a pattern of recent shootings on the South Side involving personal disputes.
Last year, the neighboring Gresham district saw a spike in aggravated batteries involving firearms.
Community leaders often cite “interpersonal conflict” as a primary driver of local violence.
The Page Security parking lot is located near several small businesses and public transit stops.
Local regulars say they are shocked that a workplace disagreement escalated to a near-fatal shooting.
