Deshawn Dante Leeth, a 30-year-old Michigan community leader, was shot and killed by Pennsylvania State Police on April 15 after a high-speed car chase.
Leeth had stolen an Ohio Highway Patrol vehicle, leading troopers on a pursuit that ended when he crashed on the Ohio Turnpike.
According to Black Enterprise, Leeth was a board member of We The People Opportunity Farm, a nonprofit where he mentored youth since 2021.
“His loss will be deeply felt by the young people he touched,” said Melvin Parson, the nonprofit’s executive director.
Leeth’s family has launched a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs, while the incident remains under investigation. No troopers were injured, but an Ohio officer sustained minor injuries.
