A 20-year-old man is fighting for his life after a Saturday afternoon shooting in the South Austin neighborhood.
The incident occurred around 3:21 p.m. in the 0-100 block of North LeClaire Avenue.
According to the Chicago Police, the victim was standing on the sidewalk when he got into a verbal argument with another man.
As the argument escalated, the offender pulled out a handgun and opened fire.
The victim was struck in the back.
Emergency responders rushed the young man to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
No arrests have been made, and the shooter remains at large.
Area Four Detectives are currently leading the investigation.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
