A 16-year-old boy lost his life early Sunday morning following a shooting on Chicago’s South Side.
Authorities identified the victim as Gustavo Rafael.
The incident occurred around 4:10 a.m. in the 5200 block of South Christiana Avenue.
Shortly after the shots rang out, a black SUV pulled up to Holy Cross Hospital.
The driver dropped off the teenager at the Chicago Lawn medical facility.

Hospital staff discovered the boy had suffered a single gunshot wound to the back of his head.
Medical personnel pronounced Gustavo dead shortly after his arrival.
Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
No suspects are in custody at this time.
The Chicago Police Department has not released a description of the shooter or the vehicle’s driver.
