In a shocking daylight attack, armed robbers targeted a prominent businessman in Ikeja, Lagos, stealing jewellery worth about ₦40 million.
The victim, Gbenga Obama, known locally as an “Ikeja Big Boy,” was standing outside his office on Allen Avenue with friends when the incident unfolded on Monday.
CCTV footage captured the dramatic scene: A suspect dressed in a black face cap, long-sleeved shirt, and black jeans approached the group. He fired three gunshots at Obama, causing injuries, and demanded valuables.
The robber quickly grabbed gold chains and bracelets before escaping on a motorcycle that waited nearby.
Obama, who suffered gunshot wounds, rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition remains stable as doctors attend to him.
Police have launched an investigation into the robbery. Authorities are reviewing the CCTV evidence and working to track down the suspect and any accomplices.
No arrests have been made yet, but officials assure the public that they are committed to bringing the culprits to justice.
