YouTube users around the world faced a sudden outage on October 15, 2025, starting around 4 PM Pacific Time.
Thousands could not load videos or use the app. Many saw error messages like “Something went wrong” or “An error occurred.” Some users specifically reported a server 400 problem, which means the app or site could not process their request.
Reports flooded in from the United States and other places. Over 300,000 people shared issues on sites like Downdetector.
Users said videos would not play on phones, computers, or TVs. YouTube Music and YouTube TV also had troubles.
Social media lit up with complaints. On X (formerly Twitter), people posted about the downtime. One user said, “YouTube down? Time for some highlights.”
Another asked, “Is YouTube down or something?” The hashtag #YouTubeDown trended as frustration grew.
Google, which owns YouTube, has not yet explained the cause. Past outages often come from server overloads or updates gone wrong. By early October 16, some reports showed the site working again for many. But others still faced issues.
Update: A few minutes ago, YouTube’s support team posted on X that the issue has been resolved. They stated, “This issue has been fixed – you should now be able to play videos on YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV!”
