The incident occurred around 9:27 p.m. in the first block of East Chicago Avenue.

Chicago police report that a 22-year-old man was sitting in a red sedan at the time.
A white sedan suddenly approached his vehicle.
Someone inside the white sedan pulled out a gun and opened fire.
The red sedan was riddled with bullets and sustained extensive damage from the attack.
Police said the driver of the red sedan lost control of his vehicle in the chaos.
His car veered off the path and struck a parked vehicle.
The force of that collision pushed the first car into a second parked vehicle.
A 52-year-old man was standing near those vehicles when the chain reaction occurred.
The impact of the cars striking one another caused him significant injury.
The 22-year-old driver of the red sedan managed to escape the gunfire without injury.
However, two other people were not as fortunate.
A 25-year-old woman was walking nearby when the shots rang out.
One of the bullets struck her in the thigh.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to provide medical aid.
The woman was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment.
She remains listed in fair condition.
The 52-year-old man was also rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Medical staff currently list him in fair condition as well.
Officers cordoned off the area near East Chicago Avenue to collect evidence.
The street was littered with debris from the crash and shell casings from the weapon.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
Area Three detectives are leading the investigation into the motive behind the attack.
Police are looking for any information regarding the occupants of the white sedan.
