Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has opened up on his decision to represent Germany instead of Nigeria.
Adeyemi was eligible to play for Nigeria, Germany, and Romania before he opted to play for the Die Manschaft in 2022.
The 23-year-old said he could not refuse the offer from the German national team.
Adeyemi said: “It’s a difficult question. I have to answer this to my father a lot of times,” the former Red Bull Salzburg player told Oma Sports.
“It’s just like this: I have offers from Germany [Football Association]; I had a good feeling there. And, at the end, I had to play for Germany. This is how easy it is.”
Adeyemi was born in Munich to a Nigerian father and Romanian mother.
He represented Germany at the under-16, under-17, and under-21 levels. He made his debut for the Germany senior team in the 6-0 win over Armenia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Adeyemi has scored 12 goals, and recorded nine assists in all competitions for Dortmund this season.
