Calumet Area detectives are investigating after a man was discovered outside on West 117th Street on Monday morning with multiple gunshot wounds.
Chicago Police Department officers are investigating a fatal morning shooting in the city’s West Pullman neighborhood.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the 800 block of West 117th Street at approximately 8:33 a.m. Monday.
Officers arriving at the scene discovered an adult male lying outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim had sustained several severe bullet strikes throughout his body during the attack.
First responders pronounced the unidentified man deceased directly at the scene due to the extent of his injuries.
Crime scene technicians cordoned off the residential block to mark physical evidence and collect shell casings scattered nearby.
Detectives searched the immediate area for residential security video and potential witnesses who may have heard the gunfire.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased victim pending notification of next of kin by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
No suspects were taken into custody immediately following the discovery, and police have not provided a possible motive.
The tragic morning incident has heightened safety concerns among residents living along the West 117th Street corridor.
