South African pop sensation and Grammy winner, Tyla, is set to carve her name into the history books as the first African to ever host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, one of the world’s most beloved children’s entertainment events.
The 2025 edition of the globally acclaimed awards show, which celebrates fan-favourite stars across music, film, sports, and digital media, will air live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The organisers officially unveiled Tyla as the host, along with the full list of nominees, on Thursday.
Tyla, who rose to international fame with her genre-blending hits and dynamic stage presence, expressed her excitement on X shortly after the announcement.
“I’m really about to host the kids choice awards,” she posted, clearly elated about her groundbreaking achievement.
In addition to hosting duties, Tyla is also up for two major nominations: Favourite Global Music Star, Favourite Music Collaboration for her song Show Me Love with WizTheMc and bees & honey
The 2025 nominations feature a strong lineup of global superstars, with Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga leading the pack with four nominations each. Not far behind are Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black, who each received three nods.
