Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has confirmed that the club has offered him a new two-year contract to extend his stay after joining the club in September.
The former Juventus goalkeeper joined the club on a short-term deal until the end of the season to replace Ter Stegen, who suffered a serious knee injury.
Szczesny has been the first-choice since October, showing his quality and experience to lead the club to a domestic double.
He has revealed that he will look into the contract offer alongside his family.
Szczesny said: “I won’t hide that I have an offer to stay at Barça for two more years. I have asked for time to think about it. I need to make the decision with my family based on what’s best for us.
“My partner makes most of the life decisions, I have no shame in admitting that. In football, I make [career] decisions as a professional, but this is an unusual situation.
“We decided to come here for a year to fulfil a dream and then get back to playing golf, so I don’t know what will happen now. I am honest about that.”
Similarly, Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Hansi Flick has also signed a new Barcelona contract.
He wrote on X: “It’s all done and set to be sealed this month with formal signature, but already approved with contract drafts. Official soon. One more year for Flick at Barça,”
Flick joined Barcelona in the summer, ans be has led the club to a domestic double with 42 wins, seven draws and eight defeats in 57 matches, scoring 167 goals, and conceding 69.
