Controversial media personality and Bible teacher, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has stirred fresh reactions online after declaring that the Bible does not support giving to lazy people.
The outspoken On-Air Personality made the statement while responding to a post by former Big Brother Naija star, Erica Nlewedim, who lamented that some people she had previously helped financially kept coming back to beg for more.
Reacting via his Instagram page, Daddy Freeze emphasized that while generosity is a virtue, it must be guided by wisdom and discernment. He explained that Christian giving should not turn into a tool that promotes dependency or idleness.
According to him, “The Bible doesn’t say you should give to lazy people. You can help people in need, yes but when someone refuses to work or make an effort to improve, you’re not mandated to keep feeding that laziness.”
He added that believers should differentiate between compassion and enablement, warning that constantly helping people who refuse to help themselves contradicts biblical principles of diligence and responsibility.
Freeze further cited scriptural references to back his stance, noting that even the Apostle Paul taught that “if a man will not work, he should not eat.”
The media personality, known for his no-holds-barred biblical interpretations, urged Christians to use discernment in giving, stressing that charity should empower, not weaken the people it aims to help.
His comments have since sparked conversations on social media, with many agreeing that giving should be purposeful and balanced, while others argued that compassion should not come with conditions.
