Lagos State has rolled out its Intelligent Transport System (ITS) to keep roads safer and traffic smoother, deploying speed cameras and e-police stations across key routes.

These systems monitor violations like speeding and running red lights, ensuring drivers stick to the rules. If you’re hitting the road in Lagos, here’s where the cameras are and what’ll happen if you break the limits.

Third Mainland Bridge

  • Speed Limit: 80 km/h
  • Details: Stretching from the mainland to Lagos Island, this bridge has speed cameras at various points. With thousands of vehicles daily, they’re watching to catch anyone pushing past 80 km/h.

Alapere, Ogudu Road

  • Speed Limit: 80 km/h
  • Details: A busy stretch in Ogudu, this spot features a speed camera to enforce the 80 km/h limit crucial for managing flow in this residential hub.

NITEL, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way

  • Speed Limit: 60 km/h
  • Details: Along this prominent Ikeja road, cameras keep tabs on traffic near the NITEL area. The 60 km/h cap reflects its urban density.

Ojota Bridge (by Motorway)

  • Speed Limit: 50 km/h
  • Details: Connecting Ikorodu Road to Third Mainland, this bridge has a lower limit due to heavy traffic. Speed cameras here mean business.

Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge

  • Speed Limit: 50-60 km/h
  • Details: Linking Lekki and Ikoyi, this bridge has cameras adjusting between 50 and 60 km/h to control flow on this upscale route.

Allen Avenue Road Junction

  • Speed Limit: 50 km/h
  • Details: At this Ikeja intersection, an e-police station tracks speeding and other violations 50 km/h is the line you don’t cross.

Narudeen Olowopopo Road

  • Speed Limit: 60 km/h
  • Details: This road’s cameras enforce a 60 km/h limit, ensuring safety in a less spotlighted but active area.

Ikorodu Road (Various Locations)

  • Speed Limit: 50-60 km/h
  • Details: Multiple cameras dot this major artery, adjusting limits based on traffic density 50 to 60 km/h keeps it steady.

Oshodi-Apapa Expressway

  • Speed Limit: 50-60 km/h
  • Details: A bustling highway with several cameras, this stretch aims to cut accidents by holding drivers to 50-60 km/h.

Epe Expressway

  • Speed Limit: 80 km/h
  • Details: Cameras here monitor high-speed driving 80 km/h, which suits this less congested route to Epe.

Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road

  • Speed Limit: 60 km/h
  • Details: Near the airport’s busy terminals, cameras enforce 60 km/h to manage traffic and ensure safety.

Caught speeding? The Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) sends an SMS detailing your violation. Exceeding speed limits costs N50,000, while running red lights sets you back N20,000. These ITS checkpoints backed by speed detection and e-police stations mean Lagos is serious about road safety in 2025.
