Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has urged the team to sort out their defensive problems ahead of their La Liga clash against Alaves on Sunday.
The Galacticos have been shaky defensively in recent weeks, conceding 11 goals in their last four games in all competitions.
Ancelotti’s team conceded three goals against Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday in a 3-0 defeat.
The Italian manager has urged the team to improve defensively against Alaves in preparation for the Arsenal clash.
Ancelotti said: “Above all in recent weeks there’s been a general dip (among the team).
“We have let in a lot of goals in recent games and we have to put a stop to that, above all when those up front are not as effective as usual.”
The Italian manager has urged his team to focus on getting the maximum points against Alaves rather than thinking about Arsenal’s game.
He said: “We will try to win because it’s fundamental to get our good feelings back,” explained Ancelotti.
“Everyone is thinking about Wednesday but all that depends on our performance tomorrow.
“Each defeat is always the same, when you lose, these are difficult moments… but luckily in football after a defeat, an opportunity arrives. The team has trained well and is focussed.”
Ancelotti also denied reports that he is set to lose his job at the end of the season.
He said: “The contract is quite clear and we will talk about the future at the end of the season,” he said, with his deal expiring in 2026.
“The club always supports me, above all in the difficult moments.”
Real Madrid need to win against Alaves to reduce Barcelona’s lead to four points after Hansi Flick’s men defeated Leganes 1-0 on Saturday night.
