A student at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, Nigeria, narrowly escaped death after being shot by a thief on campus, according to a viral post on X that has garnered over 2 million views.
The student, known online as @oluwajoker_, shared the terrifying ordeal in response to a question about experiences with divine intervention.

The incident occurred on June 1, 2022, around 9 PM in the Campus Two Area.
@oluwajoker_ stepped outside his 48-room hostel to use his phone (Infinix Note 8i), unaware that the hostel gates, usually locked by 8 PM due to frequent thefts, were left open. While sitting upstairs, he noticed a shadowy figure approaching silently.
When questioned, the intruder claimed to be looking for someone named “Norso.” As @oluwajoker_, a well-known resident, pressed for details, the man pulled a gun from a cross bag and shot him in the abdomen.
Bleeding heavily, @oluwajoker_ dropped his phone, which the thief grabbed before fleeing. Despite his cries for help, many neighbors locked their doors in fear. After nearly 30 minutes, a fellow student from the hostel’s first room braved the situation and rushed him to a hospital, as several bike riders refused to assist due to the gun-related nature of the incident.
@oluwajoker_ spent nine days recovering in the hospital and now remains cautious of anyone carrying a cross bag at night.
