The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of fast-rising comedian and content creator, Raji Samad Adetola, popularly known as Mr Sanku Comedy.
The skit maker reportedly lost his life in a ghastly car accident that occurred along the Oyo-Ogbomoso road in Ibadan in the early hours of Monday. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle he was traveling in veered off the road and crashed into a ditch.
Sanku was in the car with a friend at the time of the accident. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but were later pronounced dead a few hours after. Pictures and videos from the accident scene quickly spread on social media, sparking grief among fans and fellow entertainers.
Mr Sanku Comedy, who began his content creation journey in 2021, gained popularity for his unique storytelling style and relatable skits that resonated with a wide audience. His comedic presence and creativity earned him a growing fan base on social media platforms.
Nollywood actress, Funmi Awelewa, confirmed the tragic news in an emotional Instagram post. She revealed that she had sent one of her students who lives near Bowen Hospital to check on him. “He told me he was responding to treatment,” Awelewa wrote, before lamenting that despite her prayers against death, Sanku eventually passed on.
Tributes have since poured in from fans, colleagues, and friends who described his death as a huge loss to the comedy and content creation space in Nigeria.
