Former Big Brother Naija housemate and media personality, Uriel Oputa, has taken to social media to address why she believes she didn’t clinch the coveted Best Dressed Female title at the just-concluded Cultural Day Segment at the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA 2025).

The glamorous event, held on Friday night, was a spectacle of style, talent, and star power, attracting a glittering mix of celebrities, fashion icons, and high-profile dignitaries. Among the most anticipated categories of the evening was the Best Dressed award, which has become a major talking point over the years.

This year, reality TV star and fan favourite Liquorose Afije dazzled her way to victory as she was crowned the Best Dressed Female, while fellow Big Brother Naija alum Prince Nelson was named Best Dressed Male. Both winners were rewarded with ₦1 million each for their impeccable fashion choices.

Uriel, known for her bold style and unapologetic personality, had social media buzzing after she posted a heartfelt reaction on Instagram. In the post, she hinted that her late arrival at the ceremony was the sole reason she wasn’t in the running for the fashion crown, despite her standout ensemble.

“This is not to knock anyone’s design. Everyone looked stunning. But let’s be honest, the only reason I didn’t win best dressed is because I wasn’t there on time. Nobody can tell me my dress didn’t eat,” she wrote.

Fans and fashion enthusiasts were quick to flood the comment section with support, with many agreeing that Uriel’s outfit was indeed red-carpet worthy.

Though she may not have taken home the title this year, Uriel Oputa certainly left her mark on the AMVCA 2025 fashion scene with or without a trophy.
